End to Taxpayer Funded Terrorism is Goal of 11th District GOP Resolution
Rejects Taxpayer Funded Support of Dictator
West Bloomfield, MI; [Immediate Release]: The 11th Congressional District Republican Committee unanimously passed a resolution that calls for an end to taxpayer funded support of terrorism.
“Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act forbids U.S. financial aid to the Republic of Azerbaijan” said Dennis Marburger, member of the 11th Committee. “President Joseph Biden issued a Presidential Waiver of Section 907 overriding that prohibition of US financial aid to the Republic of Azerbaijan, that is in fact an initiator of aggressive war against the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh leading to widespread death and destruction. It is reminiscent of the Genocide of the Armenian people which occurred from 1895-1923.”
The Resolution approved by the 11th District Committee says, in part:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Michigan 11th Congressional District Republican Executive Committee calls that U.S. subsidy and support for Azerbaijan should cease with Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act immediately restored, US Department of Defense collaboration with Azerbaijan at all levels be ended with all American and Azerbaijani personnel involved in this returning to their home countries and that Azerbaijan should remove its illegal blockade of Artsakh to be followed by Azerbaijani occupation forces being withdrawn from Artsakh and Armenia…..
'Like our fellow Americans, Michigan's 11th Congressional District Republican Committee is dedicated to protecting innocent lives, promoting peace, and reducing U.S. foreign interventionism,” continued Marburger. “The Committee unanimously passed this resolution that calls on the US Congress and the President to enforce Section 907 which forbids US taxpayer dollars to be sent to Ilham Aliyev, the oil-rich dictator of Azerbaijan. This is particularly important now, as Azerbaijani state policy continues its genocidal initiative against the Armenian people and the independent Republic of Artsakh. We call on the U.S. Government to stop subsidizing this terrorism, cease all military collaboration with Azerbaijan, recognize the independent Republic of Artsakh (as have Michigan and numerous other American states), and call for the release of the Armenian prisoners held illegally by Azerbaijan and also ending of this Azerbaijani Humanitarian Blockade. Americans of all political persuasions and geographic locations are urged to join us in this emergency action.”
